New Avatar Feature Trailer - Reaction

Okay, so I just watched the new trailer for Avatar which finally shows some of the story behind the film. In short, Humans begin to take over Pandora because it has important natural resources, but there is an indigenous people on the planet who don't plan on going anywhere. The twist in this of course is the human who uses an "avatar" to live with the indigenous people, Jake Sully. (I like his last name btw). I've watched the trailer twice and I've also watched the old trailer for Titanic just to see how they compared, and they actually look very similar in format and style, the trailers that is.

So my initial reaction to the trailer is that this will be a visually epic film. Remember it will be in 3-d, but not standard 3-d. It'll be in a whole new 3-d technological system that, in the simplest explanation, gives a more rounded 3-d projection and not the flat, layered, 3-d projections we see now.

I am a little concerned about the cast. Sam Worthington is a great actor and will do a very good job, at least he seems promising enough that I feel he will do a good job. However, his supporting cast has some actors who have not had any major roles before, but instead more supporting roles in extremely different character roles.

The story looks captivating and like something that will keep the audience interested. I think this will be a film that can live up to all the hype surrounding it, even the hype I'm giving it.
